Suggest Medication For High BP In A Person With Arrhythmia
It would need a number of readings before meds are changed.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to Health Care Magic.
Thanks for writing.
I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad. I have read your question completely, i understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible.
1st most important thing to do is to control her thyroid levels, keeping TSH levels within normal limit will reduce her arrhythmia to much extent.
As long as BP is concerned, at the moment with just one BP reading there is nothing to be done but I would suggest you to keep checking her BP regularly at home. Then if it is more than 150/100 then you have to go to your doctor with that BP chart and then you should get the medication optimized. With just one reading there is nothing to be done. Medication change will also depend upon type of arrhythmia your mother is having.
I hope this answered your question, a
if you have more please feel free to ask.

I have learned a lot about her problems and concluded the same as you suggest.
But when she feel troubled I just try to get the best solution at once.
So, I encountered this site.....
My mother has the increased thyroid gland. She suffers from hypertension,
and recently got the extra systolic arrhythmia.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.
Bp, arrhythmia and thyroid all need to be worked upon

Did you mean Extra systolis ? do you know how many extra systoles she gets in a minute?
I can deifinitely understand you concern and wish to make things better for her.
As far as extrasystoles are concerned , they can be there in a patient who is taking thyoroxin and has long standing blood pressure issues and 80+ age. Now what we have to consider is if extra systoles are significant or not... like if one is having 2..3 extra beats in a minute we can leave it as it is but if there are 20..30 extra beats in a minute then one has to take care.
Usually in your mother's setting a mild long acting beta blocker in lower dose can be used to help with extra beats but here again the choice depends upon number of extra beats... and base line pulse rate.
Best thing to do here is to keep checking BP at home and make a BP chart of it stays high then contact her doctor.
Keep a check at extra beats if they are too many in a minute then contact a doctor and her drugs will be changes.
She should also take care of her TSH levels which are quite high (17.7) means her thyroid levels are low. She should see her doctor in follow up get her dose reajusted if this isnt controlling thyroid well.
So to control her problems she has to work on a number of things to get better results instead of caring about one thing.
Stay blessed.
Regards.
