Brief Answer:
Intralesional steroid is main treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to healthcare magic.

I understand from your query that you want to know about treatment options for keloids.

1. Intralesional steroids- This involves injecting a long acting steroid like Triamcinolone into the bulk of the keloid. It is given once in 3 weeks for 3- 4 times.

2. Cryotherapy - This involves using liquid nitrogen spray to freeze the keloid. It has to be done once in 2- 3 weeks for 3-4 times.

3. Silicone gels- This is applied twice a day on the keloid for atleast 3-4 months till it reduces in size.

4. Intralesional 5- Fluorouracil - This is given in resistant cases. It is a cancer drug and can cause irritation and necrosis when injected and hence is reserved to only those cases which do not respond to usual treatment modalities.

The treatment modality is decided based on the site of keloid, number of keloids, age of keloid and the consistency.

Hope this helps you.
