Brief Answer:
Please post the CAT scan and PFT report here.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

It would be better if you please post the CAT scan and PFT reports here, so that I can assist you more specifically in this regard.

There can be many causes of scarring of lungs. Generally, scarring due to any infection may go away gradually on it's own. There are no medicines as such to remove the scar. In some conditions, it may be even progressive. However, it may be possible to control the symptoms arising due to scarring.

So just post the reports here , will try and answer your query. You can simply upload/attach them at the reports section of this Web-page.

Awaiting....
Wishing you the best.

So,if the scarring is caused by the infection of the pneumonia, even though it was not in that lung you are saying it might eventually go away?Does that mean that the shortness of breath would eventually get better also?

Brief Answer:
You need to consult a pulmonologist for detail evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
It's not that simple and that's why I asked you to upload the reports. I would like to know the features and extent of scarring. Though infections can cause scarring but pneumonia is unlikely to be the cause of scarring in your case as it was in the other lung as mentioned by you. However there are other conditions which may cause scarring.

Breathlessness can be there if scarring is extensive or it may be due to hypersensitive airways and allergy.Do you have any allergies?

As I said earlier, a small patch of scar may go away on it's own but there are conditions where scarring can be extensive and progressive as in interstitial lung disease.

I suggest you consult a pulmonologist who can take a detail history, examine you and interpret your investigations to arrive at a diagnosis which may not be possible for me in view of limited relevant information.

Hope this answers your query.

Take care.
