Suggest Medication For Ringworm Infection On Toe
Question: My husband, 86, has ringworm on the toe of his left foot. Is there a commercial / drug store remedy? I can remember "Teterine salve" from my own childhood 65 years ago, but I don't if it's even manufactured anymore. But in those days, it did work. No idea what was in it, but I think, key word "think" , it had turpentine in it. Email is YYYY@YYYY ... I appreciate your assistance. If nothing available, I'll see he gets to his doctor.
Brief Answer:
Miconazole/Clotrimazole preparations available at drug store
Detailed Answer:
Hi,'
How sure are you about the ring worm? If it itches intesely and rash over it then it should be ring worm.
There are multiple antifungal preparations now in the drug store. Please ask the pharmacist for Over the counter MICONAZOLE/CLOTRIMAZOLE ointment/cream. Else if you have Whitfield's ointment in your house, an old drug you can use it. You have to wash the area with soap and water thrice a day and apply the ointment over it for at least 3 weeks or till one week after rash disappears.
Hope this helps.
