Brief Answer:
Underlying infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the question.
I have gone through your medical history in detail.

The symptoms that you have described seem to be due to underlying inflammation or infection. The infection may have originated from the nail bed, subcutaneous fat tissue or muscle tissue.Very rarely,a bone infection (osteomyelitis) can also lead to sore and swollen finger.

I hope you have not had any trauma to the affected finger.

Anti inflammatory tablets of tramadol, paracetamol or ibuprofen may help.Starting on a broad spectrum antibiotic like amoxycillin-clavulanic acid or cefuroxime can help you to get faster relief from pain and swelling.

If there is no improvement even after taking these medicines, then you should consult a doctor, preferably an orthopedist and get an Xray of the affected finger done.

Very rarely, raised uric acid levels in blood (Gout) also can cause these symptoms. This can be confirmed by getting serum uric acid levels checked in blood.

I hope the answer was useful.

Feel free to ask me any follow up queries that you may have.

Thank you.
Kind regards.
