Suggest Medication For Trigeminal Neuralgia
Question: Medication to treat trigeminal neuralgia.. these were the meds I was given. my email is YYYY@YYYY

First line treatment drugs about Trigeminal neuralgia includes use of carbamazepine (Tegretol).
Lyrica also can be used to control symptoms, but 600 mg is the maximal dose that can be used for.
Prednisolone, Ibprofen, oxycodone are less effective in controlling Trigeminal neuralgia symptoms.
If you underwent brain MRI about your condition and this examination showed neurovascular conflict as the cause of neuralgia, and symptoms are not controlled by drugs, surgery (microvascular decompression) should be discussed as the next treatment step.
There is also a less invasive procedure than surgery (injection of the Trigeminal ganglion) that may be used prior to surgery.
Those issues should be discussed with your treating Doctor.
