Suggest Medication To Lose Weight

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Sep 2015
Question: May of this year I had thyroid, right side and parathyroid behind that side removed. lesions were benign on it. THS was 177. after surgery dropped to 20. I went back to the surgeon aftercare exam, all is well. I have not seen an endocrinologist. I do feel tired in the afternoon and seem depressed quite a bit. I was wondering if their is a supplement that you can recommend for me to perk me up and help me lose the weight of 40 pounds that I gained from having the thyroid condition that made me gain the weight in the first place. I am a young 65 year old female and do not want to be "old".

Brief Answer:
Thyroid

Detailed Answer:
I understand what you are saying.

It seems like your thyroid is not working properly. The TSH of 177 was severely high and even though the TSH of 20 later on is not that high, it is high enough to indicate need for treatment with thyroid medication called levo thyroxine.

Regulating the thyroid well results in loss of the weight that was gained due to uncontrolled 'hypothyroidism' i.e. an under active thyroid which is what you have.

You must see an endocrinologist who will need the opportunity to examine you thoroughly, before determining the right dose to start with.
