What Does My Lab Test Report Indicate?
I'm a 22 years old male, and I have a problem with frequent urination, got results from my blood test and 24 hours urine test.
My blood calcium is slightly higher than normal: 10.3 mg/l (normal is 86 - 100)
And urine calcium is: 302 mg/24h (normal is 100 - 300)
Also my Chloride is lower than normal: 65 mmol/24h (normal is 110 - 250)
What could be the cause for my slightly elevated Calcium and my low Chloride in urine?
Could this be a cancer or something?
Thanks
About elevated calcium levels;
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern l.
An elevated calcium level in blood and urine, is suggestive for overproduction of calcium by parathyroid glands.
There are 4 parathyroid glands, located posteriorly to the thyroid gland, which secrete parathormon.
This hormone is responsible for calcium balance in our body.
An overproduction of this hormone by one of the glands, causes high calcium levels and increased calcium secretion in urine, predisposing for renal stones.
To confirm the diagnosis you need to check PTH level.
In malignant diseases calcium level is increased too, but usually is very high ( over 12) and in patient with end stage disease (so in people diagnosed with malignant pathologies).
Hope i have answered your questions.

Thank you for your answer, and do you know what could cause the Chloride in Urine??
Thanks
Not enough information:
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back!
The results from a blood or urine chloride test do not provide enough information to diagnose a specific disease or problem.
It should be judged together with other electrolites (Na, Potassium in blood and urine).

Dr.Mirjeta
Thank you for your answer,
From what I saw, my Potassium, Sodium was normal and I had no blood in my urine!
About low chloride level;
Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
If only urinary chloride is altered, with no other electrolite abnormalities, it may be due to low salt intake.
Try to take normal salt amount and repeat the test again.
Will be a pleasure to help you further.
