If the birth control pills are starts by latest a week before the expected menses, then you can postpone the menses. Since your menses are due on 9 July, I would advice you to start birth control pill in a daily one tablet dose immediately. Please do not wait till 2 July. Earlier the better. Continue taking the tablets in daily one tablet dose till 4 days before you want to have the menses. So if you want to have the menses on 20 July, you may keep on taking the tablets up to 16 July. However, the actions of hormones cannot be predicted mathematically; they may show a couple of days variation. Hence my advice is that you keep on taking the tablets up to 20 July and then drop them. If you do not mind having menses any time after 20 July, this seems to be the best plan.

Starting double the dose 3 days prior to expected menses also works, however, I would advice you to start them right away.

After you discontinue the birth control pills on 20 July, you are expected to get menses within 4-8 days. Please remember, a couple of menses after that may be irregular or delayed as you have interfered the normalcy of the cycle. However, nothing to worry about it. Eventually they will get regularized.

Here I would like to give you a word of caution. Please do not use these methods of postponement of menses frequently. Once in a while, it is OK, however trying to disturb the regularity of the menses frequently may disturb the hormonal balance.

There are different types of birth control pills available in the market. They have to be taken on doctor's prescription only. The main types of birth control pills can be divided into Oestrogen dominant and Progesterone dominant pills. There are other varieties of pills also. Oestrogen and Progesterone are reproductory hormones.

Before prescribing a birth control pill, doctor has to assess the hormonal status of the beneficiary. Haphazard use of hormonal preparations may lead to the hormonal imbalance and may affect the menstrual cycle adversely. Hence I am advising you to get the prescription from your Gynaecologist.

These pills are available at the Government Family Planning Centres also which will be readily available to you.
