Suggest Medication To Stop Urinary Incontinence
Different medications available
Detailed Answer:
HI,
Urinary leakage can be called urinary incontinence. There is treatment but it depends on the type of incontinence that is present.
There are:
(1) Stress incontinence - laughing, coughing, sneezing, high impact sports/activities (golf, tennis etc) ---- these cause leakage
(2) Urge incontinence- sudden and strong desire to urinate, urine loss cannot be prevented, whole bladder may be emptied, not just a few drops
(3) Overflow incontinence - bladder is over-distended, reaches its limit. Person may have slow emptying bladder, feeling as though not completely empty
(4) Mixed incontinence - mixture of stress and urge incontinence
There are also medications that can cause or worsen incontinence so if you are using any medicines, you should check and see if they may cause a problem.
Treatment:
(1) Diet - avoid spicy foods, citrus fruits, caffeine products including chocolate
(2) Drink no more than 6 to 8 glasses daily, avoid caffeine drinks, carbonated drinks can affect some persons
(3) There are certain exercises that can also help as well for some types, medication for stress and urge incontinence work best when combined with exercises.
(4) Pseudoephedrine, Midodrine - stress incontinence
(5) Bentyl, Enablex - can help with urge incontinence
(6) Vesicare, Detrol, Pro-Banthine, Toviaz - these can help with overactive bladder
These are some medications that can help but they would need a prescription from your doctor.
I hope this helps. Feel free to ask any other question.
