Suggest Medications For Labyrinthitis
Question: So, I've been diagnosed with Labyrinthitis a few days ago. I'm on my 3rd do of the 5 day period of zpak. I called my pharmacist (it's the weekend so I couldn't get ahold of my doc) to talk about my concerns with the antibiotic. I told her the first day I took it I felt really disoriented and completely mentally out of it. second day, I started to get a little dizzy and stomach pain here and there but half an ativan helped and I felt fine the rest of the night. today I took it and I've been having horrible diarrhea, super fast beating heart, and dizziness. I took half an ativan and nothing.. took the rest of it and I'm still really anxious and not feeling to well. my ears increased its ringing and I have blurry vision and semi dizziness. I'm honestly really terrified about all of this. I'd this just my anxiety, am I sensitive to the medication or what? I've heard horror stories of this drug and I've heard that it's safe. please give me some insight because I'm just goingt to keep freaking out. I'm contemplating on just ending it and not taking the rest of the pak (2 more days) because my heart rates been 90-118 from my stress or this dang drug.
Brief Answer:
Relax, there is no major side effect
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
Azithromycin is a safe antibiotic with only minor side effects like abdominal discomfort or loose motions which many antibiotics produce.
Your dizziness is probably due to labrynthitis.
Try to relax, there is nothing to worry as far as I can see. You can take another half ativan if it will not interfere with your work and safety.
Wish you good health and a good day
