Suggest Medicines For Neuropathy In Hands After Cervical Fusion Surgery

default
Posted on Wed, 11 Jun 2014
Question: I had cervical fusion surgery 8 years ago and I am taking Gabapentin 800mg 3x a day due to neuropathy in my hands. I had a lumbar fusion 8 months ago for a herniated disk L4-5 for which I'm taking Percocet 10/325 3x a day. I am allergic to penicillin and had a very bad case of hives. Ok so today I went to my pain management Doctor and was prescribed Skelaxin 800mg 3x a day. Before taking this new drug I researched it online and found so many people with horrible side effects like extremely bad hives, body swelling, bad stomach problems (flu like) and body spasms. Reading all the reviews scared the heck out of me. I am still very active even with the back pain but the pain is much worse at night but now I am very afraid to take this drug. Is there something better with less side effects? I guess I just want a professional opinion because it's too late to call my doctor.

I have noted your symptoms, treatment received and current medications.

For relief of neuropathic pain, other options include pregabalin and duloxetine capsules. In addition, other drugs found to be useful include amitriptyline, nortriptyline and tramadol.
