Brief Answer: food substitutes don't match for lipitor Detailed Answer: Hi Mrs XXXXXXX Lipitor is a very good drug for keeping cholesterol in limits. As you have diabetes and high cholesterol at age 68, there is some risk of cardiac and stroke events if either of them is not under control. It has been proved time and again that there is no match for statins (lipitor) to reduce those events. I would recommend not to take chance at your age by stooping a very good drug. Now, Answering your question, you can take supplements of FISH OIL CAPSULES containing high omega3fatty acids and SOY PROTEIN which contain various antioxidants and isoflavines that has good effect on cholesterol. But i reiterate, these don't match for lipitor in efficiency. The rest, you can decide. ALL THE BEST.
