I've had numerous diagnostic tests, including 3 endoscopies in 10 yrs diagnosing gastritis. Abdominal pain, being awakened about 2 hours after lying down, sometimes tachycardia and pain radiating from stomach up breast bone to chest.
Doctors thought I had severe GERD but PPI's didn't work, only made it worse.
Finally went to different gastroenterologist who did 10 different diagnostics and diagnosed bile reflux based on test results.
This doctor rx'ed Welchol and it has stopped the symptoms of bile reflux but
it causes severe constipation. I have to take MOM, prunes, stool softener in order to produce even a small BM. Then I will get diarrhea from the laxatives. Doctor told me to tweak doses of laxatives in order to produce good BM without
getting diarrhea.
I'd like to know if there are other options for treating bile reflux without resorting to surgery.
Thanks

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for additional information.
Bile reflux is a difficult thing to treat.
There is no specific treatment for bile reflux.
The treatment is similar to acid reflux.
In addition to surgery, PPI and lifestyle modifications, other options are prokinetics like Reglan and Itopride.
Sucralfate also provides relief.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
