Brief answer...medical treatment is available but is generally not used.
Detailed answer....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Although surgical removal of gall bladder is the best possible treatment for gall stones,a medical treatment  is available which can dissolve the gall bladder stones.
This treatment is done by use of URSODEOXYCHOLOC ACID.
In practice this drug is seldom used because of following reasons...
It takes many months to years to dissolve the stones,
The moment you stop the drug gall stones come back
It is not a cheap drug and treatment with this can prove to be expensive.
The drug can be used only if the gall stone is of cholesterol type.
Drug causes itching and diarrohea to few people.
In view of above mentioned reasons, this drug is hardly used, however if you still want to use it,you can discuss with your treating doctor about it.
I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
