Question: I had umbilical hernia surgery with mesh friday January 20th... what are things I need to avoid to not ruin the mesh or strips and glue

it was open... about a 2" incision under belly button. do not know what mesh was used he just said it was small. I have very little pain if any at times. have not used any pain meds at all. all dressing is off except stari strips an I think glue under that. I just don't want to do something stupid and make the hernia come back before it's healed. I understand not lifting anything heavy for a few weeks but will bending over or reaching for something hurt it. can I have sex etc...

It take about three weeks for any wound to have good healing and takes about 6 weeks for good strength.
Hence you should not do any activity that can put strain on the healing wound for 6 weeks if you want to avoid recurrence.
In addition:
Keep the stools soft.
Avoid people with flu to avoid getting cold and coughing.
No sex for the same period as mentioned above, that puts on real pressure on the abdominal wall.
