Suggest Products Which Can Be Used To Make A Good Emolient
Question: I'm looking to make an emollient similar to A&D to use while tattooing. I'm interested in making my own to keep the product as organic and healthy as possible. So far I have an ingredient list of coconut oil and XXXXXXX butter. I do not want it to cause pimples while healing. Could adding tea tree oil possibly combat that? Also, I have been told beeswax is not a safe idea because there have been reactions when used in cosmetic injections. There are a few products that I am interested in but I am not sure if they are optimal or safe. They include aloe vera oil extract, avocado oil, jojoba oil, fractionated coconut oil (would this not be considered a natural product because it has been processed), cera bellina (this is a derivative of beeswax--would it have the same affects of pure beeswax. Its lab name is polyglycerol-3 beeswax), olive butter (consists of lea europaea fruit oil and polyglycerol-3 beeswax). Please let me know if any of these would be unsafe to use on open skin DURING the process of getting a tattoo. I'm looking for products that will not only have an emollient action but that will be beneficial to the skin as well. The product has to be for the purpose of using during a tattoo, not afterwards. In the process of tattooing, there has to be an emollient used to lubricate the needle and help with movement of the ink into the skin. Thanks!
Also, can pure essential oils be used in a product like this?
Would pure lanolin be okay to use?
Brief Answer:

1. White soft paraffin as base.
2. XXXXXXX butter
3. Jojoba oil
4. Virgin coconut oil
5.aloe Vera
6.ruptured vitamin E capsules.
A mixture of the above will be best emolient.
Don't go for bee wax derivatives.

All the items that I'm buying are pure, so they will not have essential oils in them already. Are there any essential oils that should not be used?
I do not want to use paraffin since it is chemically processed and petroleum based. I want it to be natural since that's a major concern among many tattooists. What would you recommend as an alternative base?
Brief Answer:
COD liver oil
Detailed Answer:
Hello
cod liver oil (fish oil) can be a good natural base as well as it will also fulfill the deficiency of essential oils and Vitamin A, D and E.
You dont need to avoids any essential oil.

Thank you! We're looking into scents right now. What is your opinion of using lemon peel powder? Are there any options other than essential oils that are still safe?
Brief Answer:
sandal powder
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Orange peel powder is a good option, other things which can be used are sandal powder or turmeric powder.
These have medicinal properties too.
I think it's better to go with essential oil.

Ok we added aloe which has changes the texture alot. We were considering using citric acid as a pH adjuster. Would this be safe? Also thinking of adding alpha lipoic acid for antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties to help with redness while tattooing. Opinion?
Brief Answer:
alpha lipoic is fine
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Alpha Lipoic acid is a good idea but you should rethink about citric acid.
It is skin irritant and can also react with other products.
Please try acetic acid if possible.
