Suggest Remedies For A Keloid On Chest
Question: Hi,
I have a keloid on my chest. It is approximately 1.5cmx1cm in size currently. I experience mild itching sometime. It started 6 years ago . Off late it is growing in size more rapidly .
I would like to know if there is any procedure by which I can reduce the itching and stop it from growing any further.
I believe the are some steriod injections for treatment, I would like to know if this will cause any side effects.

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thabk you for writing to us
I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone through your query and i have noted your concern.
Intralesional steroid injection of triamcinolone acetonide 40mg/ml is first line treatment for keloid. It would flatten the raised scar as well as reduce itching and pain. Injection may be repeated after 3 weeks if required depending on the response and size of scar. There are no side effects apart from injection pain during procedure.
