Question: hi, I have this VERY bothersome rash on my inner thighs. I have no idea what it is. I have used Trialocenom (wrong spelling) ointment (its NOT over the counter ointment. I have used Zeasorb anti fungal powder and have taken about 3 doses of antibiotic of Bactrim and nothing is making it go away. it hurts to sit & can become somewhat painful. do you know what it is? what medicine would you recommend?

Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com. I have read your query. I understand your concern.
As per details, it seems that you are suffering from a condition called Tinea cruris. It is fungal infection of skin involving the body folds like inguinal area and inner thighs. It is characterised by red colored or hyperpigmented itchy rash.
In such cases, topical steroid like Triamcinolone acetonide that you have applied is completely contraindicated.
In my such patients , I prefer to advise topical antifungals like clotrimazole cream and oral antifungals like fluconazole. In non responding cases, consideration is given to start other oral antifungals like fluconazole / terbinafine.
I will advise you to upload images so that I can actually visualize the rash and advise you to my best.
Take care.

Tinea cruris

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome back to HCM.
I have seen the attached photographs now.

It looks like fungal infection only as I told you in my previous reply. In such cases, I prefer to advise topical antifungals like Clotrimazole cream and tablet Fluconazole to my patients.

In non responding cases, consideration is given to start oral Terbinafine / Itraconazole. You may need antihistaminics like Levocetrizine 10mg once daily at bed time for the next 3-5 days for symptomatic relief of the itch.

You should visit your doctor to get the prescription.

I hope it helps.
Take care.
