Suggest Remedies For Asthma In A Child
Question: My 4 year old son was hospitalized last year for some respiratory issues. The doctors said that he was to young to actually do the test to determine if he actually had asthma, but decided to treat him as if he did. He was to get pulmicort once daily upon waking and Singulair nightly before bed. Well, his sitter, which is his grandmother, refuses to give him the pulmicort during the day..she keeps him from 3-4 days out of the week, so he misses those doses. While he is with me, however, he gets them. Are we doing more harm than good by giving him those doses while she is not? I know that it is a steroid as there's a certain way they should be handled as far as missed doses. Should we keep doing our treatments or stop all together. She's the only sitter we have while we work nights, and I do trust her with him and his overall health. She just doesn't believe he needs it or actually has asthma.
