Suggest Remedies For Burning Sensation In The Stomach Despite Taking Nexium

default
Posted on Wed, 23 Nov 2016
Question: My GP said I have gastritis 7 weeks ago. It started after taking five rounds of antibiotics. My doctor put me on 40 mg of nexium and Zantac at night. I was having bad acid reflux and burning stomach. The acid reflux is pretty much gone but I still have daily bouts of mild burning sensation. The burning sensation has gotten better since two months ago but it is lingering. Overall my symptoms are a lot better than two months ago. Is this normal for gastritis to linger this long? Since I have shown improvement that would rule out anything serious...right? I go back in two weeks for reevaluation.

Brief Answer:
resolution of symptoms (though gradual) reflects improvement

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for posting query at HCM.

I've gone through your query and understood your concern.
As you've mentioned that symptoms are way better as compared to two months ago, this reflects pretty much improvement. Within a matter of couple to few more weeks, you would feel absolutely normal and would not experience the burning / reflux, though you should also avoid the precipitating factors for acid reflux and stomach irritants.

Advice:

AVOID alcohol, chocolates and too much caffeine.
Decrease salt intake
Try to eat dinner at least 2 to 3 hours before going to bed
Raise you head by placing two pillows under your head when you go to sleep at night
Add plain yogurt to meals

Wish you good and sound health
Further questions are most welcome
