Suggest Remedies For Chronic Renal Failure In An Infant
Question: A family member has chronic renal failure & undergoes dialysis twice a week. I have a seven month old infant. What precautions to take, if holding child?
Brief Answer:
keep child away if the person has fever
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
hemodialysis patients per se are not having a contagious disease, so there is no problem if they play with the child or handle the child.
but the dialysis unit must have done tests like HBsAg, Anti HCV and HIV these are called viral markers. If any of these are positive for your dialysis patient then he can transmit them by blood contact.
if the dialysis patient has cough or fever during that time it is better to keep the infant away from that person . this is actually true for any family member as such.
there is any other special precautions
best wishes
