Suggest Remedies For Fever And Diarrhea In A Child
No need to continue Ofloxacin - give zinc supplements
Detailed Answer:
Hi.... you have already completed the course of required antibiotics. No need to give floxacin with metronidazole combination again.
Occassional fever need not be worried about.
I suggest you use zinc supplements (Z&D drops 1ml once daily for 14 days) & ORS (Each small packet mixed in 200ml of potable water and keep giving sip by sip) as hydration is very important and crucial part of treatment. If there is vomiting you can use Syrup Ondansetron (as prescribed by your paediatrician).
Regarding diet - Avoid fruit juices as they might aggravate diarrhea. You can give zinc supplements & ORS apart from normal vegetarian porridges & soups.

You have already given full course - she's better too - don't worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi.... I understand your concern. You have already completed the full required dose.
Actually speaking ofloxacin is a very broad spectrum antibiotic, so please do not worry about antibiotic resistance.
From next time a simple antibiotic like Cefixime would be enough when there is blood stained stools.
There will not be any adverse effects - do not worry.

Nothing to worry - low grade fever is common
Detailed Answer:
Hi...I understand your concern. My Suggestions -
1. Low grade fever is common in such dysentery episodes. This might be there for 4-5 days. Moreover temperature should be considered as fever, only if it is more than hundred degrees Fahrenheit.
2. You have already used one full course of broad spectrum antibiotic. There was no need to start on Cefixime. Please stop Cefixime.
3. Nothing serious... please don't worry. Unless the kid's having low urine output or very dull or excessively sleepy or green bilious vomiting...you need not worry.
