Posted on Sat, 18 Jun 2016
Question: Hello Doctor,

Greetings!

I m suffering from nasal allergy for quite a long time. In my childhood i use to take cetrizine to get rid off my sneezing n itchy eyes. Now for last few years I started taking Nasal spray , Combinase AQ German Remidies, whenever i feel like irritation or itching in my nose.

All this has severely impacted my personal n professional life quite badly.

Could you please suggest how can I eliminate this allergy.

Anticipated Thanks.

Brief Answer:
You should start combination of anti allergic and anti histamine drugs.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
You are mostly having allergic rhinitis.
Best treatment for allergic rhinitis is
1. Inhaled corticosteroids and anti histamine. You are taking combinase AQ and this is appropriate.
2. Combination of anti histamine (levocetrizine or fexofenadine) and anti allergic (montelukast) drugs daily at night time.
And you should take these drugs regularly for at least 1 year, not when you are symptomatic.
Best treatment for allergy is identification of allergen and if possible complete avoidance of it.. So please let me know
1. Have you ever undergone allergy testing?
2. Have you ever tried Montelukast?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
You should get done PFT first.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you are mostly having allergic rhinitis and asthma.
Best treatment for this is identification of allergen and if possible complete avoidance of it.
Also get done PFT (pulmonary function test).
PFT will not only diagnose asthma but it will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment is based on severity only.
You should take regular inhaled corticosteroids (budesonide or fluticasone) and inhaled bronchodilator (formoterol or salmeterol).
Please let me know
1. Have you ever consulted pulmonologist?
2. Have you ever undergone PFT?
3. Have you ever consulted allergist?
4. Does your any family member is having allergy?
