Thanks for writing to Health Care Magic, I am Dr Muhammd Ahmad, I have closely read your question and I understand your concerns, I will hereby guide you regarding your health related problem.
There is not a paricular time period for which she should rest. Time period of rest depends upon many factors.
1) Severity of previous injury.
2) Speed at which her body tends to recover.
3) What kind of exertion she wants to do after getting better.
In the current situation, in my opinion, she does need 5-7 days of rest atleast before she can GRADUALLY start he practise again.
Here are a few things which can help her recover quicker.
1) Rest.
2) Slight movement and stretching twice a day to get the muscles relax a bit but don't over stretch or move much...
3) Warm compress the area to pain to losen up the musle.
4) Massage with a pain killer cream/ gel like diclofenac or brufen gel can help reduce pain , increase circulation to the area and relax the muscle.
5) Starting off gradually with a good warm up after she stops feeling pain and decides to start again.
