Brief Answer:
gum infection, scaling and root planing, medication

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query.
As far as the pain and swelling over the gums can be secondary to the gum infection which has resulted in periodonal abscess. This occurs when there are deposits over the teeth. Nothing to be panic, consult an oral physician and get it evaluated. You need to get the scaling and root planing done. Before that get a radiograph done to confirm the diagnosis.
Mean while you can take a course of antibiotics like doxycycline(if you are not allergic) for the gum infection. For the pain you can take analgesics like ibuprofen(if you are not allergic). Do saline gargling.
I hope i have answered your query. If any queries are there reply me back. Take care.
