3 Year Old with Head Injury needs CT Brain for Evaluation
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HealthCareMagic.com I am Dr.J XXXXXXX Anto Bruno Mascarenhas, and I am here to help you. I have read your question with care and understand that a 3 year old kid has
1. Hit his temple area 17 hours ago.
2. So far he doesn't have any symtoms. he didn't vomit, his eyes are equal and react to light equally, he slept good, ate well
3. just is not running around as much as usual
4. little bump on his left temple that is about size of half pennie and has some redness around it.
5. keeps rubbing it occasionally and saying it hurts. He does not say his all head hurts, just the hit area. He hit it most likely against doorknob.
6. Area is little red around it.
7. He didn't lose conciness and didn't really cry when it happened.
I will answer your questions one by one
Question 1 : Is there a possibility that his brain is bleeding slowly and may show up days later?
Answer 1 : Yes. There is a possibility that his brain is bleeding slowly and may show up days later
Question 2 : Why the hit area would still hurt?
Answer 2 : The Hit Area would still hurt because the force of injury is higher. This injury could have produced similar tissue damage inside the skull too
Question 3 : Is there a possibility brain bleed now without symptoms?
Answer 3 : Yes. There is a possibility of minimal bleeding inside skull which may not produce symptoms now
My Suggestion : Please go to ET and Get a CT Brain Done. Once you are sure that there is no injury inside the skull, we can treat the external injury leisurely
