Question: hello doctor,
I have been running quite regularly for 5 kms. 3 times a week types. I stretch before and after the run. One run back, I had a bit loose shoe laces, so I had a bit of an ankle pain. I however was not able to run much yesterday because the area behind the knee was quite painful. I tried running with a knee cover but to no help. I had to stop after the 2 k Mark. I had also used omnigel and gave a 1 week rest. I still am having pains. in the attached photo, I have indicated the main pain areas, 1 the area to the right of the knee cap. 2 the area behind the knee next to the cartilage type area.
pls guide.

Brief Answer:
Muscle tear

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

Based on the sites where you feel the pain, I suspect you to have more of a muscle pain rather than joint involvement.

I suggest you to provide rest to the limb for a minimum of three days. Muscle recovers faster if allowed to heal by resting. Any further strain will only damage the same.

Meanwhile you can apply Omnigel or Nobel gel for pain. Avoid wearing the knee cap or brace.

Hope, I answered your query.

Wish you good health.

Regards,
