Suggest Remedies For Skin Infection Behind The Head And High BP

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Oct 2016
Question: I have a skin inflammation on the scull at back of my head
it has skin swelling.
I am 76 years old male with no allergies no smoking
but has high blood pressure systolic 171/90
Local clinic doctor prescribed medication Sulfamethoxazole-tmp 2 pills per day
I am concerned it might aggravate high blood pressure, and bring on side effects.

I had a Hepatitis-A immunity shot about 2 weeks ago at drugstore clinic
because of local spreading of this disease in the population
Would this and the sulfamethoxazole-tmp medication prescribed for skull infection interact and produce adverse effects ?

Brief Answer:
Skin infection and high blood pressure

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are worried that this skin infection and the treatment may aggravate your blood pressure? No the antibiotic you were prescribed will not interfere with your blood pressure medication or with elevating your blood pressure. I think your blood pressure may elevate for a short time because of the pain and infection. Once the infection has resolved then your pressure should return to your baseline levels.

Your recent Hepatitis A vaccine would not reduced your immunity to have caused the skin infection. There also should be not side effects.
