Question: i dream a lot when i sleep. my brain does not rest. if i wake up 5 times during the night i have five different dreams. i need my brain to sleep when i sleep. what can i do.

Presence of repeated dreams with overnight acting of the brain often represents stress and anxiety. Although I have do not have details in this regard but in my practice I have seen this as a persistent problem specially among youngsters.

Having said this I feel stress management is key for better night sleep and quality of sleep.

i am hardly ever stressed. i used to think the dreams was as a result of reading because i read a lot. but thinking back i realize i have always had several dreams during the night

Thanks for reverting back to me.

Considering the fact there is no stress I feel minor tranquillisers such as clonazepam 0.25 mg can be taken for calming the mind. This should be done if there is effect on your performance due to excessive dreams.

In case there is no effect it is possible that you have better capacity to remember dreams. I mean to say that we all have multiple dreams but we hardly remember one or less on most occasions.
