Suggest Remedies For Sore And Cracked Nipples While Breastfeeding

Question: Hi.. i am currently breastfeeding and its been 17 days.. is there any permanent relief for sore and cracked nipple?

Hello Mam, thanks for trusting HealthcareMagic
I understand your problem as it is very common to have sore breasts in first few days
Take care that baby sucks on full mound of areola and not just the nipple area.
For cracked nipples you can apply nipple shield over it while Breast feeding and after baby is done with feeding apply some expressed milk over the nipple which has great healing properties
Also you can apply Nipcare ointment twice a day on nipples and wipe it before feeding the baby

Does it mean i have to always use nipple shield for feeding? Or can i stop using it once my nipples are healed? Will my nipples start to crack again then?

No dear just use shield till your nipples are sore
In case the feeding way of your baby is not right then you can have cracked nipples again definitely
So as I told you take due care that he sucks whole areola and not just the nipple area.
