Question: I use a cpap, I woke up about 4a with major nasal congestion but not much mucus. I used my XXXXXXX pot with distiller water and warmed the water in the microwave. As I used the XXXXXXX pot the water was a bit too warm and I added cold tap water and used it. It helped relieve the pressure, I blew my nose a few times and went back to sleep. I had minor throat discomfort more like dry mouth, hit water put my mask back on an went to sleep. I woke about 8a with some congestion and my throat and tonsils were red, swollen and sore. I used the XXXXXXX pot again and gargled with warm water. I drank tea, the congestion cleared and took Aleve for the soreness and swelling. I noticed two deep openings, one on each tonsil, they both appeared whitish. Tonight my throat has become very sore and the whitish areas are now dark and have a thick clear stringy mucus that has blood in it. I touched both areas with a q-tip and they both stained the cotton with a light pink tingles blood and mucus. When I inhale the air stings my throat and swallowing is now painful. No fever or chills, no cough or sneezing, very little blowing of the nose. Nasal passages are red but open.

Brief Answer:
Gargle with lukewarm water several times a day.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through the description and have checked the attached image. The congestion is clearly evident to me. However, it seems to be a case of a simple sore throat. It could have occurred due to a virus (possibly Epstein Barr Virus) or a bacteria (Streptococcus).

Irrespective of the cause, gargling with lukewarm water is the mainstay of treatment and antibiotics are not required. In addition please take cetrizine or any other antiallergic for the next few days. I think that soon things would be fine again.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
