Will Aleve Help Relieve My Back Pain?

I have started to have small round dark purple bruises on my hand, arm and leg (at the moment total of 5, not huge number) but haven t bumped into anything. I am 65 and have been presuming they are just age related and don t want to go to Dr. for such a small thing but just thought I d check. I ve been taking Aleve for back pain and wonder if it could contribute to this?

Hi,

Taking Aleve regularly can result in bleeding tendencies and this can include things like having unexplained bruises. This is because Aleve has a blood thinning effect and it makes it easy to bleed or bruise as you have described.

I therefore suspect that your symptoms are a side effect of Aleve and I recommend that you consider seeing your doctor. Your doctor may suggest changing to a different painkiller and may also order blood tests to check how your good your blood clotting function is.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
