Posted on Wed, 6 May 2015
Question: Am currently taking 40mg of lisinopril with 25mg hctz daily. Noticed more fatigue, increased exercise intolerance particularly with running and sprinting. Find it harder to catch my breath after sprints and not able to run as long when doing distances. I'm a 47 year old male. Is the lisinopril the culprit and or would a stress test be advisable?? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Need the test

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and I understand your concern. Lisinopril and hydrochlororhiazide both cause the fatigue symptoms however this shortness of breath on exertions is not due to medication and needs cardiac stress functions testing and perfusion assessment. Sprinting is not the ideal exercise after forties. I would suggest more friendly ones like jogging. Because sprinting can make even a healthy teen out of breath.

However with history of hypertension and two medications for it stress test for cardiac functions is wise.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please. Regards XXXXXXX
