Suggest Remedy For Abdominal Pain Under The Rib Cage

Question: I had asked a question earlier about moderate abdominal pain under the right side of my rib cage due to taking an enema due to severe constipation. I forgot that I had also taken two doses of miralax to relieve it. Could this be the cause of my pain?

Hi
Miralax contains Polyethylene glycol which we use routinely for bowel cleansing before surgery.
It will let out the stool without causing any electrolytic disturbance.
It causes moderate to severe abdominal pain.
Please stop using it.
Please take high fiber diet, drink plenty of liquids, eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Your stool should be soft.
I prescribe a Pre and Probiotic capsule along with anti spasmodic tablet to my patients with similar complaints. The response will be good.

well im sure if it can cause pain taking two doses of it plus an enema would do it. Lol I havnt used it since the stool passed thankfully. after the constipation passed I also had some of the craziest severe bloating I have ever had. once the gas finaly passed is when I noticed the pain. The area around the pain was also slightly swollen and tender to the touch. After drinking a bunch of water the swelling went down oddly and the pain is slowly subsiding thank God. I was so scared that it was my liver because of the spot where the pain was. Does this sound normal? Also thank you for your timely very informative and useful response. :)

The bloating could be due to Intestine.

Hi
The bloating and sensation of swelling could be due to Intestine, particularly Large Intestine.
Once the peristalsis,i.e,movement of the intestine has started due to your water intake,it has subsided.
It is natural.
Nothing to worry.
Constipation at the age of 28 can be easily managed by Lifestyle changes as mentioned earlier.
