Could this be Pancreatitis ? I have prescribed pain medicine for my back that I take daily, in which I have and the pain is tolerable now, but had I not had anything I would had to go to my Dr. or Urgent Care for something for the pain. If I just take an easy and drink water, could I just do home treatment? I'm 5'11 182 pounds, current smoker and occasional drinker, I eat an average to healthy diet daily.
Thank You for any Information.
XXXX
I saw my PCP on 10-24-14 in which he prescribed a statin that was sent to my pharmacy which was fenofibrate (FENOGLIDE) 120 MG TABS.
I was unaware so I haven't took those yet, but I have in the past and they make me feel nauseous and tired with muscle pain. This pain started last night and was progressively worse this morning 11-4-14. I did not have any pain when I seen my PCP. I was also prescribed Cardura for my High Blood Pressure at 170/100 pulse 130.
An ultrasound would at this juncture be wise
Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.
Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. I greatly appreciate the detailed query and laboratory analysis you have shared with me as it greatly helps to narrow down our search for a probable cause.
Let me make things simple for you by working on all my observations sir, starting with your blood analysis:
-Uncontrolled lipid profile: Which is why the statin was prescribed, and its response needs to be noted
-Mild changes in glucose profile, but this could purely indicate a possible condition
-Altered liver enzymes: Which again could indicate the presence of an underlying condition, but not exactly which one. To find the exact cause an ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis may be required
So as mentioned, other than an altered lipid profile which requires medications a few other changes are noted by not substantial enough to make a clear diagnosis.
Now coming to your presentation which raises possibility for the following conditions:
-Irritable bowel syndrome (Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis)
-Diverticulitis
-Pancreatitis (which would explain the change in blood glucose levels as well as other parameter changes)
-Stomach infection (acute gastroenteritis)
-Cases of poisoning
-Anemia
and a few other less likely causes, but I would suspect one of the above listed conditions to be the cause for your presentation and blood picture changes.
Thus, to find the exact cause I would first recommend an ultrasound of your abdomen and pelvis. This should help in ruling out/confirming most of the conditions on the list. But if at all the diagnosis is not clear even after this a check on haemoglobin levels and a colonoscopy would be required.
Please speak to your PCP and request for an ultrasound which in my opinion should provide a clear picture on the cause sir. I hope you find my response helpful and informative. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help you.
Best wishes.

It would be wise to get it done at the earliest
Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.
Of course, it is my pleasure entirely to be of assistance. Yes an ultrasound would greatly help, but as long as your pain is tolerable there is no need to go to the ER. But as you have reported a temperature, I would recommend you to request your doctor to schedule an ultrasound at the earliest as there is a possibility of an infection which needs to be diagnosed and treated at the earliest. So please try to get in touch with your doctor at your earliest convenience, just to be safe rather than sorry.
Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.
Best of luck sir.
