Question: I am six months pregnant and suffering from acidity from past 1week, specially burning in throat.

Thanks for writing to us.

Heartburn or acid reflux is quite common during pregnancy period. However, it is harmless and treatable. Following measures will be helpful:

1) Avoid acidic, spicy foods, carbonated drinks, caffeine, chocolate, citrus fruits and juices, tomatoes, mustard and vinegar etc.

2) Don't eat big meals. Eat several small meals throughout the day. Don't stay in empty stomach for long time. Drink more water.

3) Don't eat close to bedtime. Give yourself two to three hours to digest before you lie down.

4) Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Avoid any tightness around your waist and tummy. Avoid smoking zone.

5) Take RANITIDINE tab (150 mg) in the morning everyday till your problem is resolved.
