Suggest Remedy For Bumps And Red Spots In The Genital Area

default

Question: Hello. Please see pictures to better understand my question. This is in my pubic area. In the pictures you will see 1 big raised bump and 3 pin sized bright red dots. It is about a month now that I've had the bigger bump (Came about around 3rd week of December, around 3rd week of November had sexual contact with a new partner - protected, received unprotected oral) - no itching, no pain, no drainage & I've been treating it with tea tree oil because of reading something online. It has not helped it at all. At times it seems a bit smaller, but over all it is raised with very well defined borders. Now, the 3 red pin sized dots, which don't seem raised (maybe just a tiny bit), they're pretty flat, just seem like red spots. Today at around 7/8pm I used the restroom and that area was itching (it was 100% clear! no red dots) - I thought it's from my hair growing back (trimmed down recently) or lining of my underwear waist band being in that area - so I gave it a good itch (not the bump that was previously there). Then around 10/10:30 pm I used the restroom again and noticed these 3 bright red pin sized dots!!! They're not itchy & no pain either, but seem like just came out of nowhere! Please keep in mind, because of the bigger bump, I've been very observant of that area & I'm absolutely certain there was no red dots when I had first itched them around 7/8pm. So I'm very much confused, please advise what could be happening there. The bigger bump and also the red dots. I have not had no sexual contact in the past 7-12 days. Prior to that my sexual contacts have been protected.

Brief Answer:
I suggest a possibility of Molluscum contagiosum

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I have gone through your query and I have also seen the Images.
I can see one dome shaped white lesion which is bigger in size as compared to 3 other smaller red lesions (probably inflammed/ irritated from scratching)

I would keep a possibility of Molluscum contagiosum (all 4 of them). It is an STD.
A condom does not protect transmission because a condom covers only the shaft of penis and leaves a lot of genital area exposed for contact with infected skin surfaces e.g pubic region.

Lesions of molluscum are pearly white, dome shaped, asymptomatic and they can spread to neighboring areas because of autoinoculation that is facilitated by shaving.

I would suggest that you avoid shaving in this area. Trimmer can be used.

Treatment is removal of these lesions either by electrocautery Or Co 2 laser.
I suggest you to visit a dermatologist for the needful.

Regards

Hi,

While reading this reply I saw that the pictures attached to my query were wrong - first 3 were from a previous query and only the last 2 were correct. So I deleted all and uploaded 5 pics. Please take a look again to see if anything would be different.

As far as removal - isn't there a type of cream that would take care of it? Are these things, if they are molluscum, contagious to the touch? If you touch them and touch another part of the body?

What about if they are removed, the scar/place of it - would that be contagious until it heals?

Brief Answer:
I suggest either Cautery Or Co 2 Laser removal

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

I have reviewed all the Images. They are very suggestive of Molluscum Contagiosum.

Dome shaped, pearly white lesions with the bigger one of them also showing a central umblication/ dent.

Imiquimod 5% cream can be used for Molluscum lesions. However, it would take much longer as compared to cautery/ Co 2 Laser and is not the first choice in adults.
Topical Imiquimod is useful particularly in small children who would not allow removal by cautery.

The infection usually spreads through auto-inoculation wherein inoculation is encouraged by minor trauma/ abrasions of shaving/ scratching.

The virus does'nt usually infect intact skin. So touching is not going to be contagious however touching is not encouraged.

Cautery/ CO 2 Laser usually gets rid of them immediately and permanently and the treated area would heal/ form normal skin, in about a week.

Regards
