Suggest Remedy For Chronic Back Pain With Numbness In Thighs
My 14 year old started feeling numbness in his thigh yesterday. It lasted all day. He has no health issues, other than chronic back pain which is pediatrician says is from hunching. What could cause the numbness?
Nerve entrapment
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome
I appreciate your concern
The numbness in the thigh you referred to is possible due to nerve entrapment of the lateral cutaneous nerve of the thigh. It can be due to compression or pinching of the nerve along the course of the nerve from the spinal cord to the skin it innervates and the muscles.
A neurological exam is required to establish the sensory level. Based on the severity, NSAIDs, physiotherapy, corticosteroids injections, B 12 supplementation can be advised. The choice of treatment would depend on the severity of the condition.
Wishing you best of health
Thanks
