Suggest Remedy For Chronic Post Nasal Drip And Acid Taste In Mouth
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I have a constant taste of acid and vomit in my mouth for the past month. I also have an urge to vomit at times.
I had a slight tummy bug before this.
I also have chronic post nasal drip for many years and wake with a very dry sore salty throat every day.
I've been told over the years I have reflux problems and have been prescribed acid reducing medications on and off which helped a bit. An endoscopy in 2008 revealed no inflammation.
Do I need to get this followed up?

Brief Answer:
Yes

Hi there,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I am Dr.Barani and I am pleased to assist you.
Since you still have taste of acid and sore throat, you need to take medications. You will get relief with medications like Nexium.
Chronic post nasal drip could be due to allergy. Consult an allergy specialist for allergy tests and prescription.
Endoscopy usually is normal in acid reflux individuals unless there are complications which produce symptoms like painful swallowing and difficulty in swallowing.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

thank you.
I do have difficulty swallowing, which can be painful. This was not present at time of endoscopy.
Can ulcer type growth on tonsils cause difficulty or pain with swallowing?
Should the tonsils be very visible? They appear to be far back in the throat. I can barely see them. could this cause difficulty swallowing?
Would main advice be to try nexium before referral for endoscopy?
Thanks!

Brief Answer:
yes, tonsillitis can cause those symptoms
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me with more questions.
Yes take Nexium and tylenol also for relief. Only if you do not find relief, an endoscopy has to be done.
Yes tonsillitis also can cause painful and difficulty in swallowing.
