Brief Answer:
URTI likely viral

Detailed Answer:
Hi, Welcome to HCM.

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

It seems that you have upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) most likely Viral (running nose, dry cough etc)-might have got from your baby.

What you need to take at this stage (2nd day of illness) is symptomatic treatment such as antihistamine ( e.g Tab LEVOCETIRIZINE 5 mg Orally Once daily at bedtime for 5 days ) and Cough syrup like BROMHEXINE or AMBROXOL Hydrochloride 1 Teaspoon three times a day again for 3-5 days.

If you have fever, you can also take Tab PARACETAMOL 650 mg orally after food,if temperature is more than 100 degree F(but to a maximum of 3-4 doses per day).

Viral infection of upper respiratory tract will likely resolve in 5-6 days.

Maintain good hydration by drinking lot of water/juice/soup.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with .

Regards

Brief Answer:
Antihistamine and expectorant

Detailed Answer:
Ascoril contains terbutaline, bromhexine and guaifenesin and can be used as expectorant but use only 1 teaspoon three times a day.
Tus-Q contains chlorpheniramine maleate ,an antihistamine which makes one drowsy and hence often abused.Avoid it,especially if you have to drive.
Low-sedating agents such as cetirizine or levocetirizine generally
are used first as antihistamine. It does not make one drowsy.

Brief Answer:
URTI ? viral-secondary bacterial infection

Detailed Answer:
It seems your URTI has spread to lower respiratory tract and has increased cough with mild fever.
You need to take a course of antibiotic preferably fluoroquinolone group ( such as Levofloxacin (standard dose 500 mg daily orally at least for 5 days). Also do a complete blood count.
