Suggest Remedy For Diabetes And Altered Liver Enzymes

my diet consists of mostly meat and vegetables as an attempt to keep sugars low.carbs spike me.
my recent blood work came back with everything good except cholesterol, its 4 it should be 2,and liver enzyme output.its 100 he told me it should be 50.in the last three years it went from 125 to 52 to 86 to 50 to 100.its frustrating why its all over.
I drink red wine probably 5 nights a week .
I drink 3 cups of coffee in the morning, and smoke about 25 cigarettes per day.(yes I know its bad).
my question is how do I get enzymes to stay put at around the 50?is this tied in with diabetes and thyroid?thank you in advance.
Many reaons for altered live enzymes
Detailed Answer:
Good day
Noted the history and your concern.
You have altered liver enzymes with diabetes and high cholesterol.
There could be many reasons
1) Alcohol intake
2) Obesity with Fatty liver
3) Chronic hepatitis/ auto immune hepatitis etc.
The fisrt think to do is to cut down your alcohol intake to one standard drink a day. Alcohol rises liver enzymes and contribute significantly to weight gain and bad control of diabetes.
You are also on a diet rich in fats ( meat) in an attempt to cut down carbs. That is not right. You need carbs and fats in correct proportions. You may need to meet a specilist diabetic dietician who can help you to device a meal plan. Complex carbs are okay in moderation where as simple carbs are notorious. Try to minimize the intake of all fats to less than 45 to 50 grams a day.
Weight loss also helps in reducing liver enzymes. Not to mention about smoking ( you know that).
Hypothyroidism can cause elevated cholesterol, but if you are rightly replaced and if your TSH is normal, not to worry.
Another important thing to do is to do a hepatitis screen ( Hep B and C) to rule out chronic hepatitis as a cause. There are more special tests if your liver enzymes remain high despite weight loss and reduction in alcohol. An ultrasound of liver also is very important.
