Brief Answer:
I recommend performing some tests.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

I understand your concern and would explain that the weight gain may be related to restricted physical activity.

But other causes of weight gain like increased fluid retention leading to edema or metabolic disorders should be excluded first.

The increased fluid retention is usually caused by cardiac failure, kidney and liver disorders, electrolytes imbalance or related to some drugs like steroids etc..

Do you take steroids or any other drugs actually?

I recommend consulting with your attending physician for a careful physical examination and some tests:

-ECG and cardiac ultrasound to examine the cardiac function and the venous drainage.
- A chest x ray study
- Abdominal ultrasound
- Blood lab tests (complete blood count, kidney and liver function tests, cortisol plasma levels, fasting glucose, blood electrolytes, blood osmolarity, etc.).

You should discuss with your doctor on the above mentioned issues.

Hope to have been helpful!

Feel free to ask any other questions whenever you need!

Greetings!
