Suggest Remedy For Extremely Sore And Painful Lump On Head With Chronic Fatigue And Headache

default
Posted on Tue, 5 Jan 2016
Question: I have a lump on the lower left side of my head. One about the size of a dime and another the size of a pea below it at the neck line. It is mildly itchy in that area only. Very mild and sore to the touch, again not extreme. They do not move. If I play with it too much I get a dull ache along the back of my head. This has been about 2 weeks. I am a chrons disease patient, not sure if that means anything. Chronic fatigue and lingering top of the head headaches for 15 months (uncomfortable but not splitting). Also in the last 3 weeks with no warning my joints hurt extreme. Knees (most frequent) occassionally ankles, occassional tightening in fingers but not pain. I have gotten 2 steriod shots for this on my two days where walking from room to room brought tears ( last Saturday and the sunday prior). I was told I can't have more back to back so my family doc called in 10mg daily prednisone as maintence til I can get in to see her..again I dont if anything is related but should these lumps be anything I worry about?

Brief Answer:
Looks to be interrelated / lumps may not be or serious concerns

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read and understood your complex and varied problems:
Lumps on the lower left of head at neckline - dull ache along the back of head if fondled - 2 weeks -
Crohn's
Chronic fatigue and headache at top for 15 months
joint pains 3 weeks - painful walking
2 steroid shots - 10 mg Predni as maintenance

With this history, lumps may not be something to worry about extremely.
You can have FNAC and get a confirmed diagnosis whether these are lymph nodes or sebaceous cysts or something else. The nerve entrapped or pressed upon cause the pain at the back of neck.
I would advise you the following:
- Since it is Crohn's, I am sure you are under the treatment of a Gastroenterologist.
- Since there is polyarthralgia, more so in the knees, you may need an opinion of an Orthopedic Surgeon and further tests of blood and MRI of the knee joints.
- 15 months of headache at the top and fatigue too needs clinical evaluation and investigations preferably under the care of Neurologist.
- Continue Prednisolone as advised by you Doctor till you see Her.
- Crohn's gives malabsorption, hence deficiency of some nutrients and which in turn can cause other problems directly or indirectly.
Hence you need an overall clinical evaluation, investigations and proper treatment of all the problems together.

I hope your Doctor can help after you discuss all these points together and will surely help you to get better.

Please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
