What Causes Severe Muscle And Joint Pain Along With Swallowing Difficulty?
Question: I am a fit and healthy male 54 that exercises regularly is not overweight , does not smoke and drinks modestly . I returned from a long trip a month ago and severe muscle and joint pain keeps getting worse and has spread out from the joints . My normally very high energy is low and almost any movement is difficult due to stiffness . Am concerned as also beginning to impact swallowing this last 5 hours

The multiple joint pains or polyarthralgia could be due to multiple causes. Usually autoimmune disorders call affect multiple joints and muscles. Swallowing bring affected could be muscular disorder as well.
Do get a few blood tests like blood ESR, complete blood count, Serum Uric acid, Rheumatoid factor, ANA, XXXXXXX
You can take Tablet Ibuprofen 400mg twice a day for 5 days after meals following which take Tablet Paracetamol/Acetaminophen 500mg twice a day for 15 days.
Do visor a Rheumatologist as well to get a clearer picture after being examined thoroughly for signs of autoimmune or parasitic aetiology.
