Suggest Remedy For Hot And Cold Flashes Along With Lower Back Pain

default
Posted on Mon, 25 May 2015
Question: Hi. About 2 weeks ago my lower back started to hurt and then within days it started to feel hot. I then developed hot and cold flashes, ranging from hot to really chilled. I went to an urgent care and they said i had a uti and gave me an antibiotic. Started to feel a little better but then crashed again. Went to the ER 3 days later with very dark urine, lower back pain, hot and cold again, no fever, extreamly tired. Had a urine sample done (lots of blood in urine), blood work (all normal), and a cat scan (normal). The symptoms seem worse at night while lyingdown, the hot flashes wake me up. Im hoping to figure this out. Im starting to feel really upset by this.

Hi,

Welcome to Health Care Magic, Thanks for writing to us,

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad, I have read your question, I understand your concern and will try to help you in the best possible way.

According to your history and description of symptoms i am of the opinion that you can have two reasons of your symptoms.

1) UTI.

2) Renal stones.

..

>>UTI:

This kind of acute symptoms are often due to UTI in which one can have strange symptoms like body aches, blood in urine , flushes and anxiety.

This when reach a stage of blood in urine, needs antibiotics to be taken and still it takes about a week or so to get better.

So if you are taking antibiotics and getting better you should stay calm and expect the things to get better in 5-6 days from now.

>>Renal or ureteral stone:

Renal or ureteral stone can cause these symptoms, some stones stay there quietly for ages and then a time comes when they get infected or damage the tissue around them this given blood in urine and give off symptoms like a UTI.

Renal stones most probably would have been shown in CAT scan but there are some stones which do not come on the CAT scan like indinavir stones.

Any ways what ever is the cause among these two,

All you have to do is to stay calm and keep using antibiotics regularly . Things are expected to get better in a week or so , and if they already are getting better as you said. You don't have to worry .

Yes it will take some time to get better . But it will get better eventually.

Till then you are expected to have these symptoms off and on.

If things don't settle down in a week, meet a urologist and get his opinion on this.

Till then just rest take good amount of water and don't panic

I Hope this answers your question, if your have more queries feel free to ask, otherwise close the discussion and rate it. Wish you the best of health.

T bc XXXXXXX you for getting back to me. I have been on the second round of antibiotics since last Wednesday, Cipro 500mg. I strated to feel better Friday but then thesymptoms flared up again on this past Saturday. Is it possible that it could be some other kind of infection and it was just misdiagnosed by the ER?

Hi,

Thanks for writing back,

What ever it is some where between your kidneys to your urethra ... in most cases it is caused by infection or stone in urinary passages.

If that doesn't settle down simply visit a urologist ,

there are then other tests like cystoscopy , IVU which are used to find any place from where the blood is coming.

Your urologist might want to do that but that's only if things don't settle .\

I am expecting that things will settle down in a week or so..

just rest drink much water and take regular meds.

Stay blessed.
