Suggest Remedy For Inhalation Of Broken Finger Nail Through Nose
Question: Hello,
I did something embarrassing, but I'm sure I'm not the first in history this has happed to. I was picking my nose last night and my fingernail broke off up in my nose. I tried inhaling through my mouth, closing other nostril and blowing it out, but I don't think it ever came out. I could feel it up in there for a while.
My question is...where does it go? Would it go up in the nose and then back down and around to the small opening in the top of a person's mouth?
I could swear I feel it there...it also felt for a split second like my body expelled it out there early this morning, and I might have swallowed it. The small spot on the roof of my mouth there is a touch sore, so I don't know if I really passed it, or if it is still up there.
I am concerned because I have my nails done, so under the polish is fiberglass...
Thanks for your answer

Brief Answer:
I suggest ENT examination
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
Even stranger things happens.
Now,everything depends on size of broken nail. It is most likely that it didnt pass through nostrils to pharinx since these canals are narrow and covered with hairs and mucous so such big particles are not likely to pass. It could have only be blown out. But if you still can feel it that it may be stuck in nose mucosa and it may lead to infection. SO you should see ENT doctor and remove it if this is still there. WIsh you good health. Regards
