Suggest Remedy For Loose Stool After Taking Janumet
Metformin is a likely cause
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
janumet contains two drugs, sitagliptin and metformin. Metformin is well known for causing gastrointestinal discomfort and sometimes diarrhea. If this is the first time you've taken metformin then perhaps you should try taking two different pills (one for sitagliptin and another for metformin).
When usual doses of metformin cause diarrhea, the patient can try starting with lower doses (500mg once a day for example). After 2-3 weeks you can escalate the dose.
Vitamin B12 is not supposed to cause trouble. The same applies for vitamin D3.
I hope I've helped!
If you'd like further information or you want to correct my assumption about starting metformin for the first time, please use your follow-up questions.
Kind Regards!
No serious problems
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
3 motions per day are not too many but you can't go on like this. I suggest you do what I've written in my previous answer. Stop janumet and take sitagliptin as januvia 100mg once per day. Metformin can be initiated gradually. Start with 500mg once per day taken along with the meal. You can escalate the dose 2-3 weeks later to 500mg twice a day and see what happens.
Some patients cannot take metformin without having diarrhea - even with low doses.
You should stop metformin until the diarrhea subsides which should be very soon (probably the next 24 hours).
If you still have questions, I'll be glad to answer.
Kind Regards!
Could be cystitis
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
burning feeling when urinating, particularly if associated with frequency and urgency could be caused by cystitis which is a lower urinary tract infection. This condition needs antibiotic treatment but you'd better also confirm it with a urine culture.
Renal stones when descending can sometimes cause the same symptoms.
This condition is not likely related to your diabetes regimen.
Ask again, if you'd like further clarifications on that.
Kind Regards!
