Suggest Remedy For Pain And Swelling In The Sternum Area

default
Posted on Tue, 23 Jun 2015
Question: I have pain, swelling in the right sternum/breast area. It also was bruising, but that is going away. It hurts to turn my head and look behind me. I have not injured the area. I have had some bad seasonal allergies for 8 wks and also mild asthma. I do have RA in both hands, elbows, shoulders. Heat helps the pain. I have had it for around 7 or 8 days. I just woke up one night with the pain in my sternum area and when I got up it was bruised over that area. It is also very itchy. The pain has let up somewhat. I take 1,500 mg Tylenol a day as well as ginger; fish oil; curcumin and glucosamine chondroitin (mostly for the RA). I did see a Nurse Practioner and told her I think it might be costochondritis? Hmmmm....she just ordered a CBC and some sort of blood clotting test. I am a 59 y/o caucasion female. Not sure if I should go back and see a real doctor???

Brief Answer:
You need a Physician visit for follow up.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX!
I warmly Welcome you!

Thanks for consulting me at virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and I can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I assure you not to worry as I will take care all of your medical concerns.

This kind of pain may be due to many reasons. Just to add a few may be a breast lump that is itching in nature too, a bleeding diathesis causing bruising, a joint deformity, a muscle spams, costochondritis may also be an option in differential diagnosis because you have some symptoms related to that, And etc etc.

But you need a physician visit to rule out what actually is behind the scene. He will do a physical examination, run a battery of tests, and may go for mammography to rule out the causes. He will be in a better position to treat you accordingly because he is trained to treat such cases.

So make an appointment and go visit your physician.
