Suggest Remedy For Pain Due To Gout Attack
Brief Answer:
quite a lot of good medicines
Detailed Answer:
Indocin and/or colchicine are recommended for acute attacks (with plenty of water). Of course avoid foods that trigger gout such as bloody meats, shellfish, and red wine. Not so sure about ice though. Gout is triggered by the precipitation of crystals. Cold would seem to trigger that.

If I ever get to a doctor, he will prescribe. I need to know about pain tonight. I have aspirin, acetaminophen, naproxen (Aleve), prescription Naproxen (500 mg) and hydrocodone/acetaminophen 10/325 and hot and cold compress. This attack is surprising;I am95% vegetarian.

Brief Answer:
let's not make things worse
Detailed Answer:
low dose aspirin decreases the ability of the kidney to put out uric acid (gout stuff) while naproxen is helpful. ALEVE and/or naproxen is better.
Narcotics do not affect the gout process but really might not even be as effective for pain as an anti-inflammatory.
Looking at prevention by lowering uric acid levels is rather important.
